The Mystery Plant....

This cantaloupe was actually grown by accident in my garden.  It must have come from discarded seeds in my compost pile from me cleaning out the insides of some cantaloupes.  It was exciting to watch the plant grow and too see what it was to become.....  I only noticed the actual cantaloupe a few weeks ago since it had grown into my tomatoes and made it's way up their stake.  It wasn't very visible until I went to pluck a few tomatoes from the vine in that area and there it was.....

In the garden....

My only sunflower.  It looks like something ate all the rest of what I planted.  This happened last year as well.  I was glad to see that one made it so that I could enjoy its beauty.

Happenings in the garden.....

My cherry tomatoes are really coming in great.  They didn't do so well last year, so I'm very excited about this crop.

In the garden....

My daughter and I painted these lady bugs today on these rocks.  They turned out pretty cute.  I spray painted the red on and used outdoor craft paint for the black.   A very special touch to the flower garden.

Herb/Tomato Garden

My herb and tomato garden has really taken on well.  I ate my first cherry tomato yesterday, which I thought seemed rather early.  It's been wonderful including fresh basil in lots of my recipes.

Watering Can

Great find today.  This tin watering can cost me only $3.00.  It's missing the spout, but I'm just placing it in my garden for decor, so it will do just fine.

What's going on in the garden....

My tomato plants are looking rather healthy.  I was able to use my own compost this year and I'm hoping that made a difference.  I'm hoping for a good crop, especially the cherry tomatoes.  I'm not looking to can any, but just to enjoy some throughout the summer months.  There is nothing like a fresh tomato  right off the vine.
